Exception’s Carbon Reduction Plan (CRP) has been officially approved by the Crown Commercial Service, further strengthening our sustainability credentials to our customers and our journey to becoming Net Zero by 2030.
For several years, Exception has pursued sustainability policies through our many initiatives designed to reduce our carbon footprint, such as travel reduction, recycling and awareness training, together with planting trees to offset our carbon footprint.
Exception’s Managing Director, Alasdair Hendry, says: “We are delighted that our Carbon Reduction Plan has now been approved by The Crown Commercial Service. Demonstrating we are committed to reducing carbon and sustainability is important to us as we reach our Net Zero targets. We project that our carbon emissions will decrease over the next four years to 52 tonnes Co2 per annum by 2027 – this is a massive reduction of 85%.”
Our latest Co2 emissions per annum were 352 tonnes.
The plan has been developed by a cross-organisation working group, covering all business areas and geographies to fully appreciate business impacts, opportunities and ideas to support our company’s overall carbon reduction initiatives.
One such initiative is planting trees to offset our carbon footprint. Over the last three years we have been working with Tree Nation (a non-profit organisation that allows citizens and companies to plant trees all around the world and offset their CO2 emissions). To date we have planted over 700 planted trees in countries including Nepal, India, the Amazon Rain Forest and in the UK.
Our office buildings are sustainable by design and function, with our Edinburgh HQ using 100% renewable energy. Exception has transitioned all of its office and business systems to be cloud-based, so colleagues can access them securely from any device, reducing our IT footprint and saving energy.
